The origins of this website go back to the Takoma Park Mobilization and one of its subgroups -- the Takoma Alliance for Local Living Economy. One of TALLE's members had a conversation with Andy Shallal, the founder & owner of Busboys and Poets, in which he offered us weekly use of the big meeting space at the Takoma BB&P store along with free coffee and tea. Thus was born what came to be known as "Climate Action Coffee" (CAC) in October of 2019, meeting from 7 - 8:30 am. When the pandemic hit CAC pivoted to weekly meetings via Zoom at 8 - 9:30 am.
There are now three subgroups including:
Takoma Stormwater Solutions https://www.takomastormwatersolutions.net/
Takoma Park Community Food Forest Collective
https://www.foodforestcollective.org/
This website is dedicated to the third group,
The Pollinators
Our focus is on action, and educating people about the value of our natural environment. In particular, native plants and pollinators are promoted as integral parts of a healthy landscape, both public and private. We often have a table at local events such as the Takoma Park Folk Festival, Earth Day and National Pollinator Week, around June 20. We also sponsor a plant swap every spring and fall (see Current Events). We meet every other Thursday morning by zoom from 9:00 to 10:30 AM. Use zoom link above.
